Privacy Policy
Iris is a personal stylist app: you photograph your clothes, and Iris turns them into a catalog and dresses you from it. This policy says plainly what the app collects, what it does with it, and how you get rid of it. It describes what the code does today; when that changes, this page changes with a new effective date.
Accounts
Iris works before you sign up: on first open the app creates an anonymous guest account with a random session token and no email. You can keep it by adding an email and password, or by signing in with Apple or Google — the guest account is upgraded in place, so nothing you built is lost. Passwords are stored only as a salted hash. With Apple or Google we receive a signed identity token and, if you share it, your email; we never see your Apple or Google password. Guest accounts that are more than 30 days old and hold no clothes are deleted automatically.
What Iris collects
- Photos of your clothes. Each garment photo is sent to our server, which analyses it and renders a clean catalog shot. The original photo is kept privately (downsized, never shown to anyone) so that a correction — “it is a crew neck, not a V-neck” — can re-render from the real garment. Both files are linked to your account.
- An optional body reference photo. If you choose to add one in You → Your body, it is stored privately and used only as an input to renders that show looks on you. It is never displayed and you can remove it at any time.
- Profile. Your name, email, username, personal invite code, dressing mode, optional body metrics (height, weight, build, skin tone), taste scores from your swipes, render preference and morning-drop hour.
- A city you type. Used to fetch a public weather forecast. Iris does not access GPS or precise location.
- What you do in the app. Outfits Iris generated for you, the looks you wore or skipped, planned days, saved trips, and — in couple mode — pair requests, the looks you suggest to each other, reactions, and your answers to the daily question.
- A push token for this device, if you allow notifications, so a partner can be told when you log a look.
- First-party usage events such as “swipe done” or “paywall viewed”, with a few small values and your account id. There is no analytics SDK, no advertising identifier and no device fingerprint; the rows never leave our database.
How AI is used
Garment analysis, catalog shots, outfit renders, styling notes, packing lists and translations are produced with Google’s Gemini API. To do that, your garment photos, your optional body photo, and text such as garment descriptions, your body metrics as words, your city’s weather and the occasion are sent to Google and processed under Google’s Gemini API terms. Every catalog shot and every rendered look in Iris is an AI-generated image; fit, colour and detail can differ from the real garment.
Where it is stored
The service runs on Railway in the United States: account data in a Postgres database, images on a private disk that is never served directly. Everything travels over HTTPS. Images are reachable only through the API, which checks that the person asking owns them or is their partner.
Who else sees data
No advertising, no tracking, no selling or renting of data. The only recipients are the processors that make a feature work: Google (Gemini, as above), Railway (hosting), Open-Meteo (receives the city name to look up a forecast), Expo (relays push notifications to your device), Resend (delivers password-reset emails), and Apple or Google when you sign in with them. In couple mode your partner can see your closet, your looks, what you wore, and your daily-question answer once both of you have answered.
Retention
- Account data is kept for as long as the account exists.
- Removing a garment deletes its catalog shot, its original photo and every look built from it. If a saved trip still lists the garment, its picture stays until that trip or the account is deleted.
- Sessions expire after 90 days; password-reset links after one hour.
- Guest accounts older than 30 days with no clothes are deleted.
- Our host may keep short-lived database backups that expire on their own schedule.
Deleting your account
You → Delete my account erases the account immediately and for good: your profile, email and sessions; every garment with its catalog shot and original photo; every generated look and pair render; your body photo; your wear log, planned days, saved trips, reactions, suggestions, pair requests and daily-question answers. Usage events are detached from your id and kept only as anonymous counts. “Start over” only clears the phone; deleting the account is the server-side erase.
Purchases
Subscriptions and credit packs are billed by Apple through the App Store. Subscriptions renew automatically until cancelled in iOS Settings → Apple ID → Subscriptions. We receive a purchase receipt, never your payment details.
Children
Iris is not directed at, and may not be used by, children under 13.
Your choices and contact
You can edit your profile, remove garments, remove the body photo, leave a couple, turn off notifications and delete the account inside the app. For anything else — a copy of your data, a question, a complaint — write to support@irisdaily.com. Changes to this policy are posted at this address with a new effective date.
